 FAQ's

Q: When are you open?
A: We are open 6 days a week.  Tuesday through Friday from 10:30-6:00, Saturday 11:00-7:00 and Sunday from 12-5pm. We have a last seating and pick up one hour before closing.  If no one is here painting we may close early.  On rare occasions, we may close early for a private party or event.  Check our calendar and our studio voicemail for any changes to our hours.

Q: Are you open during the holidays?
A: We are closed to observe the following holidays:
Easter Sunday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, December 24 – 26, December 31 – New Year’s Eve and Jan 1.

Q: I haven't finished painting my masterpiece but I have to leave.  What do I do?
A: We will be happy to write down the colors you are working with and wrap your piece so you can bring it back next time, or you can have us hold it for a minimal fee for a limited time. Studo fees are 1/2 off to return and finish your masterpiece.

Q: Can I purchase a piece somewhere else and bring it to the Mind Over Splatter to paint, glaze and fire?
A: All products at Mind Over Splatter are non-toxic and tested to be compatible with our paints and glazes. Because of risks to your pieces, our kilns, other customer's pieces and the health of our staff, we only fire pieces purchased at Mind Over Splatter. 

Q: Do I need reservation or appointment?
A: No, come on in anytime! However, if you would like to have a party or do a tie dye project, please call us to schedule.

Q: Is there anything for my toddler to do if they don't want to paint?
A: We have several child friendly videos and coloring books for your little ones to enjoy. We also sell beverages and have high chairs to accomodate little ones, while you paint.

Q: How old do you have to be to paint?
A: Any age! We provide non-toxic fun for all ages.

Q: How long does it take to paint a piece?
A: It depends on you. You can finish a small, simple piece in a few minutes, or your creative piece may take a few visits to complete.

Q: What if I don't finish my piece - can I complete it later?
A:Yes. You will only be charged a partial studio fee for the use of materials. You can either take your project home with you or it can be stored here for a small fee.

Q: How long does it take to get my painted piece back?
A: The usual turn-around time for glazing and firing is 4-7 days, depending on the season and time of year. 
A two day rush order is available for $5 per piece.

Q: How long does Mind Over Splatter hold projects?
A: We will hold your project for 120 days.

Q: Can I eat/drink out of my finished pottery? Is it dishwasher safe?
A: Yes! All items are safe to eat and drink from, and are dishwasher and microwave oven safe. It is recommend to hand wash to prolong the life of your piece.

Q: What if I just want to help my child paint a piece?
A: Art helps children to develop eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills and creativity!  We encourage children to create their own works of art while parents look on. We desire  everyone who visits Mind Over Splatter to create their own masterpiece! If you help your child, you will only be charged one studio fee.

Q: Can I drop my child off to paint alone?
A: The safety of your children is our highest priority. Therefore, unless your child is attending a class/event or over the age of 13, we request they have supervision.
